Our Story.
From as early as he can remember, Bert Ammerman spent every summer in the crystal-clear water of Canada, Lake Cumberland, the Ozarks, Table Rock and of course—Lake Erie. This made him a lifelong lover of the water, water sports, boating, skiing and having fun. All of his fondest memories include getting out on the water with family and friends.
His love of lake life and the minimal number of service and installation companies around Lake Erie led him to begin servicing and installing lifts in the early 2000s. In a few short years, the demand for his skills and knowledge coupled with the constant stream of work put him in the awkward position of turning down work.
In 2016, Bert traded his business suit for a bathing suit. He purchased a small boat lift and service company named Erie Marine Construction and turned it into Erie Marine, LLC.
Our success can be measured by the growth of the company. For over 30 years Erie Marine has been in business and has steadily grown widely due to our valued clients’ referrals. The team at Erie Marine has a wealth of experience in selling, installing and servicing boat lifts and docks. We continuously expand our product lines, seeking out the most innovative and applicable products for the diverse and continuously changing Lake Erie shoreline. We strive to provide premium products and deliver outstanding customer service.
As Bert continued to grow the lift and dock business the opportunity to diversify in product offerings arose. After several conversations with the owner of Islander Marine, Jack Behrendsen, Bert quickly realized that the synergies between the two companies could provide the expansion he desired. The increased presence of inflatable boats in and around Lake Erie combined with our desire to sell the highest quality products led us to purchase Islander Marine. Islander Marine had been selling and servicing inflatable boats since 1987 in Marblehead, Ohio.
Since the acquisition of Islander Marine, we have added the most versatile, most innovative and most enjoyable inflatable boats on the market today.
